Peking University Education Foundation (USA) is proud and delighted to report that, the donation amounts to $1,798,456 in the year 2005, which is a new landmark achievement.
The significant accomplishment is made possible by 153 individuals and organizations, with 69 PKU alumni in particular. PKUEF(USA) would like to take this opportunity to thank their kindness and generosity to Peking University.

The largest donation came from Leo Koguan Foundation (US), which donated US$ 1,500,000 to support the construction of teaching building of School of Government and the training program for advanced administrative staff of public policy by Peking University in alliance with other internationally prestigious universities, and to establish Strategy Research Center and Research Institute on Enterprise and Government to support, in the long term, research and development in the field.

There was roughly $35,000 dedicated to three newly established class funds.

At the 20th anniversary of graduation, PKU Alumni from Class 1985 of Computer Science Department contributed $8,588 to establish the “8108 Innovation Scholarship” to encourage students with creativity in the field of information science and technology.

PKU Alumni from Class 1986 of Physics Department in US contributed $5,800 to support the summer vacation internship of three juniors in Physics Department. Besides financial support, they also helped to provide appropriate internship opportunities.

Mr. David Xuezheng Dai, an alumnus from Class 1979 of Law School, initiated the contribution of $16,100 to set up the “Ellen Yi Lan Woman Physicist Scholarship”, with association with relatives of Ms. Yi Lan and some alumni from Class 1980 of Physics Department. The scholarship aimed to help schoolgirls from poor families to accomplish their course of study.

To support the visiting performance of Peking University Student Performing Art Troupe in five universities in US, alumni contributed $23,313 and extended warm help during the visit. Local accommodation and transportation, as well as performance preparations, were carefully arranged for the delegation.

A sum of $20, 000 was added to the Choong Shin-Piaw Physics Education Fund in 2005. Established in 2001, the fund has reached a total of $148, 000 so far, which greatly boosted the cultivating of physics students.

The “Love Beida” program continued to increase in 2005. 32 alumni donated $10,928 to support the development of their Alma Mater.

The 2nd Peking University Alumni Associations Conference in the United States was held in Washington DC on Dec. 3rd, 2005. Hai Wen, Vice President of Peking University, Shen Rendao, Vice President of PKU Alumni Association, and Deng Ya, Executive Vice President of PKUEF attended the conference, with over 40 PKU alumni representatives from 12 PKUAAs in the US. They exchanged opinions and discussed together on the development of alumni affairs in North America. PKUAA Washington DC contributed a lot to the conference.
