March 21, 2020

|San Francisco|

Dear Peking University alumni and friends,

The outbreak of COVID-19 has drawn attention and concerns from our alumni and friends from all around the world. In February 2020, Peking University Education Foundation (USA) launched the Wuhan Relief Aid project to fight against the epidemic in China. The project has received abundant positive responses and strong support from many alumni and friends in the United States. In March 2020, as the international situation of the COVID-19 epidemic worsened, the U.S. government declared a national emergency. Meanwhile, a significant number of U.S. medical institutions have run out of supplies. Peking University Education Foundation (USA) has decided to stand alongside friends in the United States and has set up another love gathering platform, which is the COVID-19 Relief Aid for the United States. We wish to join hands with alumni and friends from all walks of life to help each other through difficulties.

The donation will be used to purchase medical protective materials to support hospitals, clinics, and other medical institutions in the United States. We will continue to cooperate with our alumni associations throughout the U.S., including the Peking University Houston Alumni Association, the Peking University Greater New York Area Alumni Association, and more. At present, Peking University Houston Alumni Association has received help requests from 42 hospitals and clinics in 8 states across the United States. And Peking University Health Science Center Alumni at Houston is now reaching out to a lot of domestic and international medical material suppliers and getting access to the customs clearance channels. Additionally, Peking University Education Foundation (USA) has decided to donate $100,000 to support Peking University Houston Alumni Association in purchasing urgently needed medical supplies. The first batch of the supplies will aid the hospitals in New York.

Dear alumni, dear friends, you and your family’s safety and health have always been our biggest concern. We urge you to be aware of the spreading virus and stay safe and healthy. Spring has already arrived, and the haze will eventually dissipate. Let us join hands and walk together to overcome the difficulties!
