The 2018 Annual Board Meeting of Peking University Education Foundation (USA) Held in San Francisco

On the morning of September 15, 2018, the 2018 Annual Board Meeting of Peking University Education Foundation (USA) (PKUEF (USA)) was held in San Francisco, with 11 board members participating. Zhihong Xu, Chair of the board, led the meeting. The board of directors reviewed and discussed the foundation’s bylaws, approved fundraising programs, budget planning, administrative and investment policies, and announced the appointment of Mrs. Florence Fang, Chairwoman of the Florence Fang Family Foundation and prominent leader of overseas Chinese in the Bay Area to the organization’s board of directors.
Lin Zhao, President of PKUEF (USA), emphasized that the foundation’s mission is to “support Peking University’s long-term development and promote the exchanges between the U.S. and China”. In the president’s working report, Lin Zhao reviewed PKUEF (USA)’s achievements after its establishment in 2001. During the past 17 years, the foundation has raised millions of US dollars and set up hundreds of donation projects, which has been strongly supporting the development of talent cultivation, teaching and research, as well as international exchange of Peking University. As the fundraising in 2018 reached a new high, the board of directors are highly motivated and determined that the foundation will make even greater contribution to the community.
After the board meeting, PKUEF (USA) held two donation ceremonies for Dr. Xianhong Wu, Chairman of Verakin Group, and Dr. Yue Yu, President of Oriental Cambridge Education Group, respectively, who are both alumni of Peking University. Flied a special visit to San Francisco, Dr. Wu and Dr. Yu have each pledged to donate $1 million to set up educational fund to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges of the U.S. and China.
